Chinese Coromandel Screen
Chinese Coromandel eight fold screen with a central peacock and floral foreground, c.1890.
The foreground with highly carved depictions of various flowers growing amongst pine trees in relief, with many different ostentatious birds perched in the branches, sitting on the ground or in flight. One focal point is a pair of blue hued peacocks, tail feathers spilling down to the forest floor, their colours contrasting with the otherwise warm palette making up the rest of the screen.
