Life size plaster sculpture of Aphrodite (Venus) modelled on the Roman marble “Frejus Aphrodite” discovered in 1650 and now in the Louvre. French C19th. The Aphrodite of Frejus is considered as the best Roman copy of the lost greek work, from 410-420 BC, in bronze by the Athenian sculptor Callimachus.
