Pair Monumental Irish Cut Crystal Square Decanters and Stoppers engraved with the Coat of Arms and Motto of “Harvey of Bargy Castle” further inscribed “John Harvey” c.1860 John Harvey of Bargy Castle. This John was an Esquire of Bargy Castle and Mount Pleasant, a Captain in the Royal Army, a Major of the Donegal Artillery, Justice of Peace, and Deputy Lieutenant. He was born in 1816 and in 1837 he married Jane, daughter of Lieutenant William Miller and had three issue with her: Elizabeth Jane (married General Robert Alexander Napper of the Bengal Staff Corps), Henrietta (married James Bradish of Strandfield, had issue), and Mary Elizabeth. Later, in 1852, he married Anne, daughter of Pierce William Hughes of Kilkevan, and had ten more children with her as follows: John Maclachlan (1853), Edward George Colebrook (1855), William James Colebrooke (1850), Alexander Maclachlan (March 1861), Harvey de Montomorency (1864), Robert Rae Fisher (April 1867), Charles Bertie Seymour (1869), Pierce William George Hughes (1871), Anna Beatrice, and Florence. The Harvey Coat of Arms for this branch of the family is blazoned in the medieval art of heraldry as follows: Or, on a chief indented sable three crescents argent, Crest: A dexter arm embowed in armour, grasping a sword proper pommel and hilt or. Motto: Semper idem. This family was seated at Bargy Castle, Ballycogley, county Wexford, Ireland.
